Saleen claims to be the only true American supercar. While Hennessy and the Hellcats would probably contest the claim, Saleen would probably be the only one with a million dollar price tag. Well, now Saleen is back with a new limited edition supercar that plans to take on the powerful Ferrari LaFerrari.
The Saleen S7 LM is a limited edition supercar that was made to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the company’s first racing championship.

With the racing championship in mind, Saleen has brought some more power into the already bonkers S7. Underneath the bonnet of the S7 LM is a 7.0 litre twin-turbo V8 engine capable of producing a LaFerrari, beating 1,000bhp. To give you a performance benchmark, the 750bhp S7 could do a time of 2.8 seconds for the 0 to 62mph sprint and a top speed of 248mph. You can just imagine how much faster it would be with 25% more power. It could challenge probably the Koenigsegg One:1 or Tesla Model S P100D in acceleration.
Saleen has been out of the spotlight for some time because of financial and legal troubles. The current Saleen Automotive Company was formed in 2011 in the wake of some legal battles to re-acquire the Saleen brand. Saleen has been busy as of late tuning Ford Mustangs and Tesla Model S.
A casualty of the financial troubles of the company was a more affordable supercar in the S5S Raptor which was unveiled in 2008. It never got into the production phase as the company was struggling at the time. With the resurgence of the company, there is now hope for the S5S Raptor.
The Saleen S7 LM will have a limited production run of just 7 supercars.
Interested owners of the S7 LM will have to fork out around $1,000,000 for one of these beasts. So do you think the S7 LM will beat the Ferrari LaFerrari? We have our doubts but we will just have to see when the S7 LM hits the road.
